AW24
Apolina's AW24 journey began with a trip to California. Visiting the Museum of Western Cinema and the rocky Alabama Hills–scene of many old movies–sparked a fascination with 1950s Westerns. Patchworks, traditional Western-style shirts, and fringing give a sweet nod to these movies and the style of Hollywood's Golden Age; think Rita Hayworth in a stunning embroidered blouse.
Our romanticised vision of prairie homestead life features an earthy, autumnal palette, highlighted by vintage blue. Patchwork and quilting reference the homemade cottage crafts of simpler times, while folk and vintage cinema-inspired floral prints meet a Welsh blanket-influenced jacquard, weaving together a sense of nostalgic comfort, intrinsic to a cosy cottage or homestead.
The collection was shot at a solitary mid-century cabin, on a barren and windswept coast that evokes a prairie mood. We retreat indoors to find a haven from the elements; rich wooden cladding, simple modern style, and a chance for boredom on a quiet afternoon to give way to inventive play.
