A postcard from Stockholm

A postcard from Stockholm

I have been asked by a few people to share our favourite places in Stockholm.. so I thought i'd put it all in the journal so that anyone can dip in if they are planning a trip.

This has actually inspired a new feature! We are going to do a regular 'Postcard from..' with various destinations covered to build a sort of travel guide on the journal. We will be asking customers/ friends to share their favourite hangouts in their city! But for now, back to Stockholm...

Caroline's favourites in Stockholm, Sweden.

Nordiska Museet.

Djurgårdsvägen 6-16, 115 93 Stockholm, Sweden

Nordiska Museet is packed with traditional Swedish handicrafts.. a feast for the eyes! There are numerous exhibitions dedicated to showing Swedish style through-out the ages.

For children they have the amazing 'Lillehuset' on the ground floor which is a wonderful 'set' of a traditional Swedish homestead with a little shop, pully-bridge, farm and home set up for children to play in and interact with. Hours of fun for little ones and very charming to see!

Also they have a really sweet giftshop and a beautiful cafe.

Fabrique Bakery

Odengatan 42, 113 51 Stockholm, Sweden

This is my number one stop in Stockholm. To me starting the day with a sticky cinamon bun is such a perfect holiday treat. There are a few different outposts across the city, all with an old-world charm and delicious baked goods.

Rosendals Garden centre and tearooms

Rosendalsvägen 38, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

Rosendals is a favourite spot of ours. Delicious traditional Swedish cakes and light lunches are served in a garden nursery setting. You can eat your treats in the beautiful gardens and orchards surrounding, and there are many great walks to do from this base on Djurgarten.

Skansen Open-air Museum

Djurgårdsslätten 49-51, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

An incredible place to spend a day, Skansen is a must see if you are in Stockholm. An open-air museum showing traditional Swedish life over the centuries. Many old original buildings have been re-located here and decked out with original furniture, wallpapers and objects. Such an inspiring place. There are many great food options, places to sit and relax and even a zoo and children's farm located within the park.

Beautiful botanical gardens with outdoor and indoor space, a perfect place to relax and enjoy a tranquil morning. The cafe serves excellent lunches and of course, delicious fika.

Kristinebergs Slottspark.

 Uggleparken, 112 51 Stockholm, Sweden

Quite simply the best playground I have visited.. My girls absolutely love it here with the giant wooden structured animals and smaller details great for imaginative play.
